Christmas. A Chat with Grace Choi.

Hi, my name is Grace and I am freelance illustrator based in Sydney. My son gave me so much inspiration to start my creative biz so call myself an illustrator mama. My nearly two year old son keeps me super busy and active during the day and during the nights- I hustle!

I illustrate all the things I love and I specialise in capturing beautiful memories through custom family portraits.

2. What are your favourite Christmas Traditions?

To be honest, as I grew up, my family was never so big on Christmas. I don’t think we ever had Christmas trees or decorations around the house. In the mornings we would attend Christmas church service and in the afternoons it was family time. Haha. Sounds like a very sad Christmas as I write this. Oh dear…

We always had the spirit with us but I don’t think my parents ever knew how to enjoy Christmas in a festive way!

So now, Christmas is super festive! My husband and I love shopping so we end up buying so many Christmas collectibles and decorations. We keep telling ourselves we don’t need any more but its hard especially when they are blingy! Our tree is up but our bub is taking down all the ornaments (our daily routine) and dances with the trees (yup, he holds their hand) so Christmas this year is looking super messy!

3. Make us drool over your favourite Christmas food! 

Lots of cocktails, mocktails, wines, lots of seafood (oysters are my fav) , cheese, mangos and chocolates!

4. Are you the "I'm done with Christmas Shopping with Christmas Tree all up by mid November" or "Nah. Let's put up the tree on Dec 20th  and hit the stores on Dec 23rd" type?

I have always been ‘the very last minute shopper’ every year! But after having bub, I try to give myself sometime. Thank God we have internet shopping, makes life so much easier.

 5. What is the most important thing about Christmas for you?

Most important thing would be family. In saying this, I hate when days I love go so fast! Spending quality time, enjoying and embracing every minute is super important!
